Mr. Tamer Hussein Soudan - Senior Manager of our Non-Marine Department provided a workshop on «Decennial Liability and Inherent Liability Insurance » as part of the insurance programs organized by the Kuwaiti Insurance Federation (KIF), The workshop was held on Wednesday, 30th. November 2016 and took place at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the presence of 26 candidates and delegates from the insurance industry as well as Contractors and Other interested parties.

 

As a distinguished and a very important specialized subject , Mr. Tamer provide a detailed subtle explanation of the concept of the  inherent defects liability / Decennial insurance coverage.

 

IDI Provides protection against the cost of repairing, restoring or strengthening of the insured building if the “Damage” is caused by an “Inherent Structural Defect”. The cover is only offered for new buildings or civil structure. A defect which existed prior to the date of issue of the “Certificate of Practical Completion” however was not, or could not have been, discovered prior to that date. It includes design, workmanship and material defects.

 

IDI policy a first party policy, which implies that in the event of the claim this policy can take precedence over any contractual or legal rights and lasts for 10 years after the project completion date.
